| Overlord-80

February - June 2023
During the events of June 6th, 1944, and the days that followed, 73,000 allied soldiers lost their lives. To this day, more than 2,300 soldiers still remain nameless.

As a tribute to the 80th anniversary of D-Day, I have tried to depict this important historical event in an original way.

I have chosen to design and produce a 3D animated short to portray this. In the animation we focus on the stories and experiences of the unidentified or ‘nameless’ soldiers. I developed this idea after seeing an unidentified American grave. On each grave of an unnamed soldier, you can read the epitaph: “Here rests in honored glory, a comrade in arms know but to God.” This text plays an important role in my animation. Together with some surrealistic elements such as a sea of dog tags and a gigantic parachute covering Sainte-Mère-Eglise, accompanied by General Eisenhower’s speech, I hope to depict D-Day in an original way.
